Kick Start Your Wedding Planning

With lots of proposals happening over the festive season many newly engaged couples will be starting to think about planning their wedding and for many that’s a daunting task.

To help kick start your wedding planning we have outlined the first few essential steps to get you on your way to your dream wedding.

Identify Your Wedding Budget

Deciding on your wedding budget can be a difficult first step for many couples but unfortunately it is a super important one. Your wedding budget will guide all the other decisions you make with your wedding planning and having a budget and sticking to it can really reduce arguments down the track.

Because we think this step is so important we have created a completely customisable ‘Wedding Budget Calculator’ which you can download FREE at the end of this blog!

Identify Your Wedding Style

Once your budget is set, now its time to think about what style wedding you want. This includes what sort of atmosphere you would like on the day, will it be a formal suit and tie event or will it be a more relaxed setting?

Next up, what would you like it to look like? Do you love rustic styling? Maybe a seaside vibe? Or maybe you would prefer a romantic luxe city wedding? And how will this style mesh with the atmosphere you want on the day?

Our tip is to jump on to Pinterest and pin everything you like the look of. It might seem like a jumble at first but after a while, you will start to see a pattern emerge.

Consider Your Wedding Guest List

OK here is another difficult one, narrowing down your guest list, but you now have your budget and wedding style to help guide your decisions. If you are working with a very tight budget then the easiest way to save money is to have a smaller guest list, but if your huge family is pushing the guest list up and you just can’t cull anyone then make sure that is supported by your wedding budget and/or style.

Decide on Your Wedding Season

Deciding on when you want to get married will help you sort out your timeline for the rest of your wedding planning. Whether you have a specific date in mind or just a general time of year, knowing when you want to get married will also help with narrowing down your venue selection.

Identify Your Strengths

Planning your wedding is an exciting time but it can also be very stressful and many couples just don’t have the time and/or expertise to do it all. We highly recommend assessing your strengths and weaknesses and if there is something your just not good at, then don’t try to do it yourself. Trust me, you do not need the stress! Whether it’s planning and organising itself, styling and decorating, creating stationary or hand packaging bonboneries there is a vendor out there that will look after it for you.

With these 5 steps taken care of up front you can streamline your wedding planning and look forward to the wedding of your dreams without the wedding planning stress.
